WHITE (Agaricus bisporus)

White mushrooms are medium to small white-capped mushrooms with a short stem and are one of the most recognizable mushrooms available. Originally native to the fields and grasslands of Europe and North America, they can be found in the wild following rain from late spring through to autumn.

One of the most recognizable mushrooms lends itself to a wide variety of cooking methods. They are best paired with other vegetables, or proteins, which allows them to soak up other aromatic flavors.

Fun fact: The Portabella, Baby Bella, and White mushrooms are all the same species, the main difference is age. Soft White mushrooms are the youngest, followed by the firmer Baby Bella, and finally the overgrown and meaty Portabella. They all have different uses for a truly versatile and delicious mushroom.
