BABY BELLA (Agaricus bisporus)
Baby Bella mushrooms (also known as Crimini) are medium brown capped mushrooms with a short stem. Originally native to the fields and grasslands of Europe and North America, they can be found in the wild following rain from late spring through to autumn.
They are a great all-purpose cooking mushroom with an approachable earthy taste. They do contain a good amount of water, so you’ll need to cook them until they release it, or else the mushrooms will have a slippery texture instead of meaty.
Flavor Profile: Savory, nutty, aromatic, medium-firm texture
Cooking Methods: Sautéed, soup, roasted, stir-fried, braised
Fun Fact: Baby Bella are some of the most common edible mushrooms in the wild, but can be confused for deadly poisonous mushrooms including the Destroying Angel.
